Conversational Hypnosis – Unleash Your Natural Hypnotic Powers!

Have you ever heard of conversational hypnosis? If so, there is a chance that you are working in the field of hypnosis in some capacity. If not there is a good reason for that, meaning unless you are already familiar with hypnosis it is doubtful that you would have known about this conversational hypnosis as an “outsider”. It is not something that most hypnotists would divulge anything about.

Why? Because it is what you might call a trade secrete. Conversational hypnosis is a powerful tool in the area of hypnotism. It is not something that most people would even know about; much less know how to use.

One reason that it is so covert is because it is not really that difficult to grasp and learn. So many professionals wish to keep the knowledge they have to themselves.

Basically, conversational hypnosis is a way of hypnotizing a person by what the think is a natural conversation but it is actually a directed conversation. How is this different from the more conventional or common hypnotism? It uses a completely different approach from the hypnotist instead of the sit in the chair or lie on the couch approach. In that the hypnotist and subject engage in a casual interaction rather than the more standard technique. However, don’t be fooled into thinking that conversational hypnosis is not as effective because it is a very powerful tool.

In order to start a session, the hypnotist must clearly identifying with the subject by empathizing and listening to their problems. This is also referred to as rapport because the hypnotist has to genuinely show the subject that they completely agree and understand their position. Then the hypnotist must “distract” the subject by asking questions that relate to the specific problem but in a different way allowing the subject to see different aspects. The next phase of conversational hypnosis involves a proposition of sorts. Once the subject begins to consider other ideas or thoughts relating to their problem, (not the problem itself) the hypnotist is able to introduce different propositions on ways to deal with his problem.

To sum it up, it is not about the actual destination. Rather it is a way of getting to that final destination by helping the subject

to visualize making positive and constructive decisions and then following through with those decisions. Using conversational hypnosis is a way to effectively deal with difficult situations and traumas that may occur in one’s life.

Does Hypnosis Really Work

Hypnosis does indeed work and is used widely by many therapists to help people overcome phobias, lose weight, stop smoking and discontinue bad habits. Anyone can be hypnotized but some will be more susceptible to this trance like state than others. The hypnotic state is one that is trancelike and the actual word hypnosis is derived from a Greek word meaning ‘nervous sleep’. This is actually incorrect because when a person is hypnotized they are in state of consciousness that is difficult to define. Hypnotized people are aware yet unaware and their minds can be manipulated by the hypnotist. Suggestion is used while people are hypnotized for therapy to quit bad habits smoking, or other healing as mentioned above. So yes, the answer to does hypnosis really work is a positive one.

Why is there so much secrecy around hypnosis?

Many consider hypnosis a form of brainwashing and are totally against any form of hypnosis for this reason. In a hypnotized state a person is not fully in control of them selves and can thus be manipulated. You will also find that although there is tons of information it is difficult to really find out the true ways of learning how to hypnotize people because it can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Underground Hypnosis course are available but they will not come cheap for obvious reasons. It takes dedication to learn hypnosis techniques and this is a skill that must be used responsibly. A master hypnotist can hypnotize susceptible people quickly using underground hypnosis techniques and the average person can also learn self hypnotism to better their quality of life. Considering the above paragraph the answer does hypnosis really work is once again yes it certainly does.

Most people vividly remember the scene in Star Wars when Obi Wan Kenobi looks into the eyes of a guard and convinces him that the three wanted fugitives right in front of him are not the people he is looking for. Wouldn’t it be great to have similar influence over people? The term conversational hypnosis suggests that we can.

Of course, conversational hypnosis is not as simple as it sounds. Rather, it is a series of well-choreographed strategies and manipulations that may bring others around to your point of view.

The principles of conversational hypnosis were first conceived by the great hypnotist and psychotherapist Milton Erickson. Erickson believed that trance states were not rare occurrences that had to be elaborately induced. He believed people slip into trance states several times a day, for instance, when they are waiting for a bus or concentrating very hard on something they are reading.

Erickson also theorized that directly trying to induce a trance state in someone or trying to give them direct suggestions might lead to resistance. He preferred to use rapport, indirect suggestions, and confusion to induce trance states and influence compliance.

Rapport

The first step in conversational hypnosis is creating a rapport with the subject. This means agreeing with what they have to say. For instance, if the subject says, “There’s no way out of this,” the proper response is, “You’re right. There’s no way out.”

Confusion

The next step in conversational hypnosis is to confuse the issue. Sometimes a simple question works. “But even if there is no way out, can you be absolutely sure that a solution won’t pop into your mind in the next minute or so?”

Another technique used to create confusion in conversational hypnosis is to encourage resistance, perhaps by saying, “No one could solve that problem. It’s simply too complex. There’s absolutely no way out. You don’t have a chance…” At some point, the subject will probably start arguing with you that the problem is not so unsolvable after all!

Still another confusion technique is to suggest that the subject do more of something that isn’t working. For instance, an obese subject might be encouraged to gain weight.

Suggestion

The final step in conversational hypnosis is to make an indirect suggestion such as, “You’re feeling a bit less hopeless now, aren’t you?” or “I don’t know why, but it seems to me you look more optimistic than you did a few minutes ago.”

Needless to say, conversational hypnosis is no easy feat, and it is best left to professionals.
